Nuance Music Friday: August 19, 2022

August 19, 2022 in NMF, News, Music

Written by: Nuance Editorial Team

Happy NMF, Nuance Fam! It's Friday and, like always, we've got an excellent selection of new music to hear. But first, we've got some good news! Nuance's new Zine Issue 2 featuring Arlie is available for pre-sale here, featuring interviews with Arlie, Tre' Amani, Zahir, and Convict Julie. Now, for this week's selections, we've got a surefire heartbreak along with just the vibes to heal it, so let yourself go and feel something today with some excellent artists sharing their music.

Sara Kays – “Watching TV”

Nashville singer/songwriter Sara Kays, who gained a loyal online following by breaking their hearts, absolutely does it again with masterfully written, sentimentally delivered new single "Watching TV"–a fan favorite from her recent headline tour, which tells a heart-wrenching tale of a break-up so quick, it fails to make sense, and follows her earlier releases this year "Math" and "When You Look at Me."

Larry June – Spaceships On The Blade

San Francisco MC Larry June releases new LP Spaceships on the Blade–showing why he's one of the most exciting artists coming out of the bay, cornering his breezy lane of luxury rap defined by soothing samples and June's effortless flow with his second standout project of the year after 2 P'z In A Pod with Jay Worthy.

Bazzi – "Heaven"

Multi-platinum singer Bazzi drops new single "Heaven," a catchy and uplifting track co-written by longtime collaborator Kevin White which will be featured on Bazzi's upcoming album, Infinite Dream, set for release on September 16th.

Lucki – "Coincidence"

Chicago MC Lucki keeps applying pressure with new single "COINCIDENCE"–the latest in a string of hit singles from the underground king after "Super Urus" and "Y NOT?" featuring Lucki's hypnotic flow over a lush, extraterrestrial trap beat.

Cartel – "The End"

Atlanta emo-punk legends Cartel continues their comeback with new single "The End"–delivering vibrant mid-2000s pop-punk melodies without skipping a beat on the follow-up to "17," the first track the band had released in a decade.

“If you’re feeling bereft of good emo music, you probably just need Good Sleepy. The Central Massachusetts outfit's new sophomore LP, CONSTANT HUMMING, delivers hard-hitting, headbanging riffs with just the right dose of dreamy melodies, with expansive, polished production you’d never guess was mixed in a basement and not a major studio. On tracks like “LOOMING” and “ALL AT ONCE,” the band displays the mixture of raw, DIY energy and infectious songwriting that makes for a great record, and an even better live show.”

“Trxy! may have missed the original wave of shoegaze, but the 19-year-old singer/songwriter/DIY-producer is trying to revive it anyway. Hailing from Southern Virginia, he manifests the energy of his best ’90s and early aughts influences through the restless, hyper-digital lens of a Gen Z teenager…”
