Fashion & Film: Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

Breakfast at Tiffany's is the breathtaking film based on Truman Capote's novel. The tale of a young upscale escort seeking a rich older man. However, she meets a young fellow that moves into her apartment building who is, ironically, with an older upscale woman, whilst trying to become a writer. I am here to chatter on about the delicate, delightful, & dazzling fashion in this film as I take you on this exploration through each character's style & demeanor you will discover new styles for yourself & others.

Holly Golightly [ Audrey Hepburn ], the star of the film, the lavish, charming young woman whose entrance was more affluent than her wardrobe. She is Dior, Givenchy, Chanel, & everything classic that you may have seen on the runway is likely in her closet. How can you not be fond of & have a weakness for a woman that classy & beautiful? I know I do. Most people recognize the film from the fabulous black dress & pearl necklace, that look is rich yet relaxed & you can style it from Breakfast to Brunch to Lunch to Dinner to the After Party. You can never go wrong with elegance, & how you wear it is what brings out the true beauty in every outfit.

Paul Varjak [ George Peppard ] also known as "Fred" the silly nickname given to him by Holly because he resembled her brother, along with being the new neighbor & writer. He has it pretty easy, he is with an older upscale woman who pays for everything & even leaves him money on his nightstand in exchange for sex, to some people that may be seen as wrong in many ways but it's pretty simple for him when you think about what he has to do. His style is classic, handsome, clean-cut, dapper man. His button-down with a slim tie, nifty cardigan, plain dark blue slacks & dress shoes. Paul always had swell coordination between colors.

Emily Eustace [ Patricia Neal ] also known as 2-E, The "decorator" who hilariously rewards Paul for his performance oh so often. She is a prestigious, preceding woman who is also very graceful & luxurious. As you can see through the stills it really is effortless beauty & savoir-faire. My favorite look of hers is the beautiful Silk, Satin green dress with her fashionable, classical dog on her lap whilst making a call. You can be wealthy & have all the clothes in the world, but the key is to know how to make the clothes wear you because you are the look.
