Electro-soul duo HONNE recently released their first single of 2021 “What Would You Do?” feat. R&B artist Pink Sweat$. HONNE, composed of London-based pair Andy Clutterbuck and James Hatcher, deliver on what their listeners love: sweet and genuine lyrics paired with smooth electronic pop, now with a renewed sense of freedom.
“What Would You Do?” asks the listener what they’d say to the one they love when they’re running out of time. The track’s bass pounds like a heartbeat while high synth harmonies recreate the fuzzy, fluttering feelings of vulnerability. The song displays playful optimism when the opening lyrics ask, “Let’s say the world ended a week from now, what would you do?” HONNE and Pink Sweat$ provide the answer, encouraging the listener to open up about their love through their upbeat vocals.
As HONNE explains about the single, “In the past, we’ve limited ourselves. We might get to a section of a song and things are getting really exciting, but then we pull ourselves back and say, ‘Can we really do that?‘ Now, we’ve sidestepped the rules and done whatever we wanted to do.”
