Concert Review: Hotline TNT at Chicago's Not Not

Written By: David Williams

Will Anderson and his band of merry men, aka ascending NYC indie band Hotline TNT, have been riding high since their critically acclaimed album Cartwheel, performing the new set on a whirlwind tour since the turn of the year. First, opening up for the also white-hot countrygaze band Wednesday, they now have their headlining tour to conquer.

Known for electrifying guitars tuned to maximum power, Hotline TNT blows you away with a massive sound that can almost fly you across the room. The songs are meant to be heard at a level where the police bang on your door for a noise ordinance complaint, yet the tunes get even more elevated during the live show than on the recorded versions.

Their fans couldn't recommend their live experience enough. They have a stage presence and gravitas that make you want to watch them all night. The setlist flies like a bat out of hell with swirling guitars and breakneck drum hits. Hotline TNT's raging riffs stopped by Chicago this March at the DIY hidden venue The Not Not, an adventure unlike any other.
